y connections with islands covers my entire
life for, in fact, I was born on oneLong Island. Though very large, it is still an
island. I have also had the great pleasure to visit small ones that have the feeling that
you have arrived in Paradise such as the garden island of Kauai, Hawaii.
In January 2003, I was chosen by a private foundation to spend 10 days at the Gift House
on the island of Kauai. The Gift House was founded for the purpose of
sharing the beauty and tranquility of Kauai with people who are involved in charitable,
spiritual or artistic work and who give generously of their time and energy to support
others whose work in the world speaks of a generous heart, mind and intention. It
strives to provide a period of time for renewal and healing, a time to enjoy a relaxing
and less stressful quality of a low paced life.
And oh, how it succeeded! During these 10 wonderful days of relaxation and renewal,
my first illustrated children's book, The Magic of Hanalei Bay, was born.
I also held a workshop entitled "Reinventing Yourself
as an Artist and Human Being" which was very well received. The rest of
my quality time was spent painting, drawing and writing of the beauty of Kauai,
especially Hanalei Bay and the surrounding area. The works below were sketched
on the island, then the finished paintings were completed at my Sebastopol, California
studio. The images on this and the next page reflect my life-long romance with island life both on the
earth and in the island of my mind, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed
creating them.

Giclée Prints
Giclée prints represents an exciting breakthrough in fine art
printmaking. The process combines the latest in computer and printing technology with the finest
material available to give the end product a strong link to more traditional forms of
printmaking. The printing step is accomplished by the use of an ink jet type printer, which uses
a
four-color continuous tone technology.
Environmentally friendly water-based dyes are
transferred to the paper surface through extremely accurate and sophisticated ink jet printing
at a rate of 4 million 15-micron diameter droplets per second.
The 100% cotton watercolor paper
absorbs the ink completely, resulting in a very water-resistant surface. Quality and collectability
are of primary concern.
Recently the Giclée print met with official museological approval as
original multiples. Major artists such as David Hochney and Robert Rauschenberg are now
producing prints in this medium, and museums such as the New York Metropolitan Museum of Modern
Art are exhibiting these works.
My fine art Giclée images are produced by D'Orazio Digital Imaging.
All are signed and dated.
My Giclée
prints are available in three image sizes 8x10, 11x14, and 16x20. In the 16x20 size,
the edition is limited to 250 of each finish as opposed to the editions of 1,000 or more
commonly made by other
print-makers. All sizes have an extra border which makes the
8x10 image 12x14 overall, the 11x14 image 16x20 overall, and the 16x20 image 20x24 overall.
